Nelson Ombui, claimed that the CDF chairman Anthony Nyamao has been asking parents to part with bribes so as their applications are accepted.

"Nyamao has been calling parents in the region and asking for bribes. This is unacceptable and we are calling on the area MP John Oyioka to intervene and ensure that the process is free and fair," he said.

Another parent Lawrence Gichana said he was asked to part with Sh2,000 so as he is awarded Sh20,000.

"Our MP assured us that the application process will be free and fair. It is sad for the CDF officials to demand bribes from poor parents who are struggling to raise school fees for their children to get proper education," said Gichana.

He threatened that if the area MP will not intervene and help stop the issue, parents will hold protests and push for the removal of the recently appointed CDF officials.

Hivisasa writer reached Mr Nyamao the CDF chairman for a comment and he dismissed the claims saying those spreading propaganda were the ones who wanted more money awarded to them.

"Submission of the documents ended yesterday. Claims that we have been demanding bribes are false and misleading. I assure locals that the process will be free and fair," he said.
