Speaking on Monday at Gesera market, Bonchari MP Zebedayo Opore's personal assistant, Chris Onyancha, said the lawmaker had set aside Sh800,000 from his own savings that will be used in the project.

He said the move was necessitated by regular calls by senior clergy from the Pentecostal church following constant leaking roofs of the old church, making it impossible to followers to attend service, especially in afternoons.

Onyancha said the legislator had already identified contractors from Kisii town who would be required to complete the new building in a month's time.

“Your prayers have been heard and the MP has sent me here to bring good news. He will construct a new building for you, which will be ready for the next one month,” he said.

“You elders have always put a spirited effort to have the job done, and now all is well. Our MP is always ready to help the society move in terms of development,” he added.

The aide said he will personally supervise the exercise till construction is finalised before he hands it over to the church in a formal ceremony.

“All I require from you is just patience. You remain calm till the building is finished. I will supervise all the activities and I will only hand over a complete building to you,” he said.
