The residents of Suneka township on Sunday said that the lawmaker was a visionary leader with a good development record in  education and infrastructure

They urged critics of the MP to desist from engaging in unnecessary confrontation and instead join hands for the sake of development in the region.

“As residents of Bonchari we want to thank Opore for his concerted efforts to have this region prosper. Our children in various institutions have been given bursaries without discrimination. We have also seen feeder roads to different regions being taken care of,” said Wilfred Onchari, a resident.

“We understand that he has been facing critics here and there but that is normal. We urge those opposing to give constructive criticism for the sake of development in this region,” he added.

They welcomed the decision by Opore to have all bereaved families in the region to receive Sh1,800 for the funeral arrangement of their loved ones.

“Our leader has offered to give Sh1,800 to every family that loses its loved one. This will help them arrange for the funerals, hence making it easy for us to cater for funeral expenses,” said Arnold Mong’are.

Opore is serving his second term after 2013 elections, having been thrown out for allegedly rigging elections before he bounced back in a by-election held in June last year.
