According to Bonchari University Students Association, BUSA, President Nelson Ombui, the tree planting exercise will start on April 2, 2018.

“Students have donated over 5,000 trees which we will plant in all primary and secondary schools across the constituency. Our aim is to increase the forest cover and conserve the environment,” he said.

He assured that the tree planting exercise will also involve the constituents and sensitize locals on the need to plant trees and protect the environment.

“Locals have been cutting trees and burning charcoal illegally. We will educate Bonchari residents on the need to plant more trees to help protect the living environment,” he added.

Ombui said education officers have already been notified about the planned tree planting which will now be taking place yearly.

“Tree planting will be done every year to ensure our schools have more trees. Constituency education officers have already approved the exercise,” he noted.

BUSA secretary general Innocent Gwachi urged students to turn up in large numbers to participate in the tree planting exercise.

“Students from all the wards in Bonchari should turn up on April 2, 2018 to plant trees for the purpose of conserving the environment and help in sensitizing locals to protect the environment,” aid Gwachi.
