They say that they have been forced to seek medical attention in neighbouring health facilities while their own remain unoccupied.

"This is one of the oldest health facilities in Nakuru but look at how being ignored in subsequent budget allocations has led to its pathetic state, something ought to be done as a matter of urgency to save it," noted Mzee Musa Ndegwa, a resident.

He argued that gone are the days when they use to be proud of the facility saying that today, the surest medicine one can get at the dispensary is pain killers and piriton.

"Our pregnant daughters are the most affected, I know of several cases who have developed birth complications trying to access a hospital. The government should just act to save our sons and daughters," he added.

According to Rose Wamboi, nurse in charge at the facility, they are forced to operate under the circumstances because there was nothing they could do about it.

"Our facility has been earmarked for renovation and face lifting but as you know, government operations are done differently and we are not in position to force," she said.

The nurse who is nearing her retirement age exuded confidence having a state of the art hospital built in Bondeni saying that it's her dream.

"What i believe is that my dreams are valid, this is among the most habitable areas in Nakuru and a good health facility will be a reprieve to many people," she added.

Speaking in Visoi ward, Rongai sub county early this week while on a developments project tour, Nakuru County governor Kinuthia Mbugua noted that the county was in the process of procuring drugs and medical supplies to be distributed to all hospitals across the county further revealing that some facilities will be face lifted in the near future.
