An ODM politician from Rarieda Sub-county is living in fear after he allegedly received death threats from unknown people from the area following his alleged links to the Jubilee party.

Wanjare Wanjare who contested for the West Uyoma ward nomination in April on an ODM ticket but lost has revealed that he has been receiving both verbal and SMS threats to his life since July this year.

Wanjare stated that his woes started immediately he began to campaign for the now Siaya governor Cornel Rasanga in West Uyoma ward which is the political backyard of Eng Nicholas Gumbo, Rasanga’s fierce competitor.

The politician stated that a section of area residents who were pro-Gumbo branded him a jubilee mole because of frequent visits by Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju at his home.

Wanjare explained that he is related to Tuju through marriage and the Jubilee Sec Gen is free to visit his home at any time.

He denied any allegations that he has been secretly coordinating Jubilee activities in the region and asked the area residents to stop linking his lavish lifestyle to association with Jubilee administration saying he was a hardworking citizen.

The politician, however, disclosed that he is yet to report the threats to the police as he was still waiting to identify individuals behind the threats and gather more evidence.
