Drought in the Nyanza region has caused major problem as livestock continue to die.

Residents are forced to walk for long distances in search for water and food for animals. This results to some animals dying on the way.

In Bondo sub-county, all dams have dried up except Ochot Dam which is also salty. Many people are heading to River Yala while others visit former Rarieda MP Raphael Tuju's area in search of drinking water.

The residents have blamed the Odinga family, saying it has been in power for years but the water shortage in Bondo is still a threat.

"I am not afraid to say that the leadership in Bondo constituency is rotting. It started in 1990's when the late Jaramogi was the MP. He could not bring us piped water. His son Dr Oburu was in power for about 19 years and still we are suffering,'' said a local who preferred anonymity due to security reasons.

"They have been in power for years. I was an MP for five years only but during the dry seasons, water that is supplying Bondo comes from my project,'' he added.
