Residents of Central Sakwa Ward in Bondo sub-county have petitioned Siaya County government to move with speed and solve the water problems in the region.
That area has had no water supply since October last year and according to the area MCA Mr. Johannes Andiego, this is as a result of the power disconnection at Olago water intake following an electricity bill of Sh350,000.
He has therefore called on the county government to settle the bill so that the water can be pumped to serve the residents who have seriously suffered.
The legislator lamented that they are tired of empty promises from the county government, and demanded that the matter is solved with immediate effect.
Mr. Andiego took the opportunity to call on his constituents to prepare to attend the public participation exercise for the County’s Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) to be able to prioritize the projects that they would want to be implemented in the area over the next five years.
He stated that it is important for them to participate in the formulation of the CIDP whose process begins next week because it is from this that the Annual Development Plan (ADP) is going to be derived.
Mr. Andiego who is also the Chief Whip at the Siaya County Assembly has, on the other hand, encouraged Siaya residents to gather courage and accompany them to Nairobi’s Uhuru Park where NASA leader Raila Odinga and his Deputy Kalonzo Musyoka are expected to be ‘sworn in’.
He disclosed that as members of the Siaya County assembly, they will all attend the ‘swearing in’ ceremony come what may.
