Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on NTV’s AM live show, Khalwale said Uhuru might be the legally elected president but he must accept that a large number of Kenyans do not recognise him as their Head of State. “Uhuru lacks legitimacy to have total control of the country and move the agenda of the country,” said Khalwale. The former Kakamega Senator said NASA leader Raila Odinga, on the other hand, enjoys a massive following but lacks the powers to execute the government’s agenda.“Raila is the people’s president but lacks the legal authority to execute any government agenda,” he said. The Ford Kenya deputy party leader said there is a need for Uhuru to reach out to NASA leader Raila Odinga in a bid to solve the current political stalemate being witnessed in the country. He said Raila and Uhuru should hold dialogue in a bid to move the country forward.“There is that which Raila has which he can contribute to the country but Uhuru doesn’t have and vice versa. Both have something to offer,” said Khalwale. He said the move by NASA leaders to call for dialogue between the two leaders does not mean that they are cowards, adding that it is for the greater good of the country.“We at NASA are urging Raila to talk to Uhuru not because we are cowards, but because people must talk to end the stalemate,” he added.
