Activist Boniface Mwangi  has explained why his Ukweli  Party settled on a sugarcane as it's symbol.

According to Mwangi, the party intends to sweeten the lives of Kenyuans after the August general elections.

 “We want a Kenya that’s free of corruption. Where the corrupt belong behind bars. The slogan of the party is “Power to the people," Mwangi said on Monday during the launch.

He noted that said the party will not have a presidential candidate, but will filed candidates for parliamentary and ward seats.

“We want MPs to be paid less money and we don’t want people being cleared to vie only through certificate of good conduct while ignoring chapter six of the Constitution,” he said.
