Activist Boniface Mwangi has reacted to a recent report by the Auditor-General citing that the Ministry of Health cannot account for Sh1 billion in the 2015/2016 financial year.
According to Mwangi, the lost money was allegedly 'stolen' by President Uhuru Kenyatta's sister and Deputy President William Ruto's 'people' on tenders that were never fulfilled.
In a tweet on Sunday, the activist further blamed the president and his deputy for the country\s healthcare mess and called on them to fix it.
"This how much money President @UKenyatta’s sister and @WilliamsRuto people stole from Ministry of Health. They got tenders to supply air & empty containers. We haven’t forgotten @OleItumbi," tweeted MWangi.
He added, "President @UKenyatta and his deputy @WilliamsRuto are always giving out millions in Harambees (fundraisers). You @OleItumbi should WhatsApp them this video and tell them to donate too. It’s them who are responsible for the healthcare mess in Kenya today, it’s their job to fix it!"
In the report, Auditor General Edward Ouko cites that the ministry cannot account for the Kshs 5 billion that was allegedly embezzled from the Ministry's coffers as well as the expenditure of another Kshs 6 billion.
As quoted by the Nation, the funds lost include Ksh10 billion held separately by the ministries of medical services and that of public health prior to their merger, Ksh1.3 billion for goods and services not delivered as well as bills worth Kshs 2.4 billion.
