[Photo: Elvanis Ronoh]Wareng Kenya National Union of teachers executive secretary general John Boor has urged Uasin Gishu County government to increase the salary paid to ECDE teachers.He said the current amount is a drop in the ocean compared to the workload."I Want to urge governor Jackson Mandago to at least increase ECDE teachers' salaries for them to live a comfortable life. These teachers really go through a lot in making the foundation of our children," he said in Eldoret town, Thursday."We want ECDE teachers to be paid a minimum amount of sh 20,000 and not the current sh 10,000," he added. He, however, urged the Ministry of Education to gazed schools in Timborowa as hardship areas since the area is extremely cold. "We want teachers in this region to be paid hardship allowances since they go through slot in delivering their services, making many teachers asking for a transfer," noted Boor.
