Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho has affirmed his commitment to keep the city clean.
The governor flagged off 12 solid waste collection trucks at the Treasury Square flanked by by his Deputy Dr William Kingi' Tourism, Environment and Health CeCs alongside other stakeholders on Friday.
He said the trucks would help transport litter from various parts of the city to designated dumping sites.
Each truck has a capacity to transport approximately 20 tonnes of waste per trip.
Joho commended the county staff for ensuring the county is clean despite the dumping challenges, saying there has been tremendous progress in dumping of litter.
“Whatever circumstances, I am grateful to the staff at the county. Certainly there will be a lot of challenges for the government to attain its goals. Whether we like it or not, whether people want to appreciate it or not, there has been tremendous progress unlike in the past,” he said.
Joho further called upon the residents of Mombasa to continue working closely with the County Government of Mombasa by dumping responsibly and keeping the environment clean.His sentiments were echoed by his deputy.
