Kenya is on the path to reclaiming pole position in the regional petroleum market with the completion of the Sh1.7 billion Kisumu oil Jetty by the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).
This Jetty is set to revolutionize the distribution of oil products in Nyanza region by increasing the throughout capacity to 1 billion liters per year in the first phase that is expected to peak at 3 billion liters per year by 2028.
The project that was delivered in a record of nine months by a local engineering firm - Southern engineering company (SECO), will position Kisumu as the centre of oil and gas through safe transportation of fuel across the lake.
This project will also enhance safety and environmental conservation via the reduction of roads accidents, fuel fires and siphoning incidents.
The revelations were made during the oil jetty handing over witnessed by Kisumu County Roads and Public Works CeC Thomas Ondijo who represented Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o; the KPC Chairman John Ngumi, Kisumu Deport Manager and the KPC General Manager of Infrastructure Eng Billy Aseka among others.
