The County government of Kilifi says it is taking giant steps to modernize agriculture and turn it into a lucrative business and make the County food sufficient.
This is after the county government launched the Kilifi County Farm Input distribution programme on Tuesday.
Leading the exercise, Kilifi Deputy Governor Eng. Gideon Edmund Saburi was flanked by several County Executive Committee Members.
He said the programme would see thousands of farmers from across the County get free certified seeds, fertilizers and other farm input from the County government to increase their production.
"I call upon our farmers to take advantage of these initiatives by the County government on mechanized agriculture, value addition and agro-processing to transform subsistence agriculture to commercial farming," appealed the DG.
"I also wish urge farmers to venture into other areas of production like bee-keeping, fisheries and dairy farming to maximize on our Agricultural produce as a County," he added.
