[Photo|GPS-Makueni County]The County government of Makueni is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Vision 2030 Secretariat.The MoU will see the two establish a collaborative framework which will see the secretariat guide the County's development agenda. In a meeting between Governor Kivutha Kibwana and the secretariat board led by Vision 2030 Director General Dr Julius Muia in Nairobi, they agreed that Makueni should act as a benchmark for other counties on best practices for County-National government partnerships after the MoU is signed. Among the areas of collaboration identified include health promotion, water and sanitation, development of the County's CIDP, and Agriculture. The Secretariat promised to spearhead funds sourcing to among others, establishment of a medical ecotourism where patients will be referred for specialised treatment instead of flying abroad, promotion of the Universal Healthcare, water harvesting, development of an industrial park, Agri-business development and establishment of a University City. The secretariat will also take a lead role in a partnership between Makueni and Amref/Phillips to set up/upgrade model health centres and dispensaries and install state-of-the- art medical equipment across the county. During the meeting on Monday, Dr Muia said the Vision 2030 secretariat was working with 35 institutions both local and international that it would wish to refer to Makueni County for development partnerships.
