The County Government of Taita Taveta is upgrading Voi town market, in Voi town.
Governor Granton Samboja inspected the ongoing construction of the market on Tuesday, where he disclosed that the project is 70% complete.
Currently, the contractor is laying cabros within the market compound and working on the drainage system.
He said the upgrading of the Voi town Lower Market will enable proper planning of the facility and a conducive environment for economic development.
The old toilet has been demolished and a new one is being constructed.
"The market will also have a sustainable drainage system, access roads and a standard car parking lot."
"Once the project is complete it will turn Voi town into a 24/7 hour economy. We will also transform the markets in the other Sub Counties in order to improve our economy status," he added.
Samboja also said his government will ensure roads are passable within the shortest time possible to avoid inconveniencing residents.
