The National Council of NGOs has asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to let the other six presidential candidates participate in the upcoming October 26 fresh presidential poll if they they are interested in the race.Through a statement on Saturday, the council's chairman chairman Stephen Cheboi noted it is wrong for IEBC to exclude six aspirants. The electoral body has maintained only two contenders, Jubile's President Uhuru Kenyatta and the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga will take part in the repeat election. This is after the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice David Maraga nullified the August 8 presidential election citing irregularities and illegalities in the process and directed fresh elections be conducted within 60 days which. The Thirdway Alliance presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot has been pushing for his name to be included in the state house race. He has even filed a petition at the High Court of Kenya concerning the matter."The repeat poll is not a presidential re-run where only two leading candidates can participate," said Cheboi."Let Ekuru Aukot and others who wish to participate be accorded another opportunity to prove their cases to the Kenyan people, he added.

The other five candidates who participated in the August polls are Abduba Dida (Alliance for Real Change), Joe Nyagah (independent), Cyrus Jirongo (United Democratic Party), Justuz Juma (Justice and Freedom party) and Michael Mwaura (independent).
