[Photo/Governor Nyong'o Communication Unit]Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o, his Nandi counterpart Stephen Sang' and Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett met an event at Chemelil Sugar Company, on Thursday.The cash-strapped sugar company wants the national government to bail it out with Sh500 million for factory maintenance to enable it return to normal operations.Managing Director Gabriel Nyangweso said the company’s crushing capacity had largely been hampered due to worn out yet critical machine parts.The factory was given Sh300 million bailout cheque from the national government to pay farmers’ arrears accrued between 2014 and June 2017.The money, which was delivered by Bett, will be used to offset debts to over 9,000 cane growers and encourage them to embark on massive production of the commodity.The leaders also used this opportunity to pass message of peace to the gathering.Also present in the function were Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili, Nandi Senator Kiprotich Charargeyi, among others.
