Ahead of their international matches this year, Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia have received a boost after being allowed to play at the Machakos Stadium.

The county government of Machakos had banned Gor Mahia in 2014 after the fans caused trouble at the Kenyatta Stadium during a Kenya Premier League match against Sofapaka.

But Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has lifted the ban in what will now increase the stadium options for the champions after the unavailability of Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums.

"I have today lifted the ban we had imposed on Gor Mahia Football Club three years ago in 2014. The ban was as a result of some errant fans after a match at Machakos Stadium," the governor said on his Twitter handle.
