Kenya Premier League side Gor Mahia has been handed a major boost ahead of their 2018 season after key midfielder George 'Blackberry' Odhiambo signed a one and a half year contract extension. The Kenyan international was instrumental for K'ogallo as they went on to bag a historic 16th league title during the 2017 season. However, there were fears that the former KPL Most Valuable Player would walk out of the club to join former tactician Jose Marcelo Ferreira 'Ze Maria' at KF Tirana of Albania. But on Tuesday, the club through its CEO Omondi Aduda revealed that 'Blackberry' had opted to stay and fight for his place in the team.
"Blackberry has committed to Gor Mahia after agreeing to sign a one and a half year contract extension. He was the only player who was yet to extend his stay after his contract had run down but I can confirm now that he will be with us next season," Aduda revealed to local sports website Goal.com.
As we speak ,he (Odhiambo) has travelled to Nakuru to join the rest in pre-season training.I now believe that the team is ready and good to go," he added.
Other than defending their league title,K'ogalo will also be representing the country at the continental Confederation of Africa Football (Caf) champions league that kicks off in February.
