The Kitui Youth Movement (KYM) members said Mutua is among the promising Kamba leaders who have chances of ascending to presidency.

Addressing the press in Kitui town on Wednesday, KYM chair Moses Munyalo told the Kamba community to be wise moving forward.

Munyalo said the community has suffered for many years and that they have to endorse leaders who will uplift them once elected.

“We have confidence in Governor Alfred Mutua and her Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu as promising Kamba leaders who can liberate this region,” Munyalo said.

The youth called on Mutua and Ngilu to unite the Kamba community.

They said residents have been politically divided arguing the region can only ascend to top leadership if they are together.

The youths rubbished Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Monday endorsement for presidency in 2022 polls terming it irrelevant.

According to the youth, Kalonzo is no longer relevant and his endorsement is a waste of time.

Kalonzo was endorsed for presidency by Kamba leaders during the Ukambani unity meeting in Machakos on Monday.

The Wiper Party leader  is eyeing the presidency seat in 2022 on NASA ticket as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) he signed with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

On the other hand, governor Mutua is eyeing the seat on his Maendeleo Chap Chap party.

The Machakos governor has maintained that he is experienced enough to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
