Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has received yet another political boost as he seeks to retain his seat during the next general election.

This comes after a section of Luo elders in the county on Thursday dismissed claims that Joho had sidelined the community.

The elders rubbished speculations that the community will not back the governor’s re-election bid in the August polls.

The community’s chairman, Obara Kings, asked residents and other leaders to ignore the group that had threatened not to vote for the governor.

Kings also urged Mombasa residents to turn up in large numbers and register as voters.

“We ask our community members and Mombasa residents at large to register near their residential areas in order to vote,” he said, as quoted by Baraka FM.

A few weeks ago, a section of leaders from the community met Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) principal Raila Odinga, and accused Joho of neglecting them after taking over power in 2013.
