Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa has received a major boost as she seeks to clinch the Malindi Parliamentary seat after 200 women from the Giriama Community agreed to back her bid.The Giriama Association of Women affirmed that they will stand with Jumwa to the end because of her exemplary development scoreboard. Speaking on their behalf, the Association chair, Grace Ng’andu, said Jumwa has what it takes to become the next MP for Malindi, adding that she will transform their lives if she ascends to power in August. The women also called upon Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi to accept their endorsement ahead of the August polls. On her part, Jumwa said she is well prepared to battle it out with the incumbent MP Willy Mtengo, adding that she will give him a run for his money. “As a woman I’m prepared. There are colleagues who have openly said they are planning to cause chaos, that they already have ballot papers,’’ Jumwa said, as quoted by the Star.Jumwa further said that the residents have spoken in one voice and leaders should respect them. “Malindi has decided it’s Aisha Jumwa. ODM in Kilifi should respect the decision of the people,” said Jumwa.
