National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) leader Charity Ngilu has backed Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid.
According to media reports, Ngilu is in support of Kalonzo’s presidential bid in the National Super Alliance (NASA).
The Standard reports that Kalonzo met with former Lands Cabinet Secretary alongside Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) leader Wavinya Ndeti at a local hotel in Nairobi on Wednesday where they agreed to work together.
People Trust Party leader Mutua Katuku is also said to have attended the meeting and also agreed to back Kalonzo’s bid.
The move according to political analysts is meant to cement Kalonzo’s popularity in Ukambani and also spearhead the region unity.
Though it is not clear on whether Ngilu who has declared interest in the Kitui gubernatorial seat will work with NASA.
Ngilu and Kalonzo have not been seeing eye to eye politically for a long term and analysts say that their new found friendship could boost Kalonzo presidential chances if endorsed as NASA flag bearer.
The Narc leader was suspended by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Lands CS over alleged graft at the Lands Ministry.
Kalonzo has been reaching out to senior Kamba politicians to work together for unity and development of the region.
Last month Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana dissolved his Muungano party and pledged to work with Kalonzo’s Wiper party.
Kalonzo is among NASA leaders battling out to flag the Alliance ticket in the August 8 polls.
