Raila's daughter has been unwell since March this year and was flown to South Africa for specialised treatment for a non-cancerous brain tumor.

After the death of Raila's eldest son, Fidel Odinga, more than 2 years ago, Rosemary has been seen as the most politically active child of the Odinga's.

Before falling ill, she was viewed as the heir of the Jaramogi political dynasty starting with her bid for Kibra MP seat.

Many political pundits saw her bid as a big blow to MP Okoth, who has been the most outstanding MP over the last four years in Parliament, and also Owalo, who has been Raila's long time ally.

Owalo specifically had repeatedly condemned the entry of Rosemary in Kibra politics, saying that she may be favored in party nominations because of her relationship with Raila.

However, Okoth challenged her to enter the murky waters of Kibra politics and fight for the ODM ticket.
