Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth has received a major political boost as he seeks to dethrone Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero from power after Muslim clerics backed his candidature.

Speaking on Saturday at Crowne Plaza in Nairobi during a meeting attended by NAMLEF Chairman Abdullahi Abdi and Nairobi senatorial aspirant Badi Ali, the clerics said that Kenneth is a perfect replacement for Kidero because of his great performance scoreboard.

The leaders affirmed that they will rally behind Kenneth when that time comes because he has what it takes to transform the lives of the common Wananchi if elected the next county boss.

They also argued that he is different from other competitors in the race to smoke out Kidero.

On his part, Kenneth assured the clerics that he will not fail the people of Nairobi 'like the current leadership has done' since Kidero took over power.

The soft-spoken politician pointed out that the will decentralise services and collection of revenue to 17 units once he ascends to power.

He also said that he will fight cartels, corruption and clear garbage from different parts of Nairobi if elected into office in August.
