Nakuru County Governor Lee Kinyanjui has received support after he announced plans to construct an airport at Lanet barracks.
Issa Gichangi, a former civic leader in Nakuru town, said leaders from the region should support Kinyanjui’s development plans for the well being of the people.
“Nakuru will benefit once the airport is built in the region because we will have more investors coming as well as the number of tourists will increase thus more revenue ,” said Gichangi.
He said governor Kinyanjui should ignore those opposed to the project.
“I am aware that some people may not be happy with the plan but my humble appeal to the governor is that he should give a deaf ear to those opposed and work with the national government to ensure the project is complete,” Gichangi added.
Gichangi said the project will also offer jobs to residents.
“We want our youths to have jobs which will enable them improve their lifestyles. I don’t see the reason why such good idea should be opposed,” he added.
He was speaking in Nakuru town on Sunday.
