Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago received a major boost after a group of the Agikuyu, Meru and Embu Members Association (Gema) living in the county declared their support for his re-election bid.Gema said Mandago is their preferred gubernatorial candidate."We the Gema community members living in this county hereby endorse governor Mandago to defend his seat in the upcoming general elections," said the Association's secretary general Paul Kinyanjui Mwangi. They were speaking to the press at the Queens garden hotel after a closed-door meeting. The declaration is expected to be met with mixed reactions given the fact that an influencia leader from the Gema community in the county Peter Chomba, the Huruma MCA, is said to be supporting Mandago's main rival Bundotich Kiprop, popularly known as Buzeki.Other aspirants eyeing the Uasing Gishu gubernatorial seat include Nandi County Health services Chief Officer Dr Edward Serem and Felix Butit. The four will battle it out for the much-sought-after Jubilee ticket during the party primaries slated for late April.
