Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago's bid for a second term in office has received a major boost after a section of the Abagusii community living in the county endorsed him.
Addressing the press at the Eldoret Catholic Cathedral, Thursday, the Abagusii community leaders in the county said they had no reason not to support governor Mandago.
They said the current administration had performed well and it deserves as second term.
"As a community we feel that governor Mandago has steered this county to the right direction as we have seen improved security, infrastructure and a facelift on our ECD centres as well as equitable distribution of resources," noted the Community's spokesperson, Francis Nyarombe.
They further dismissed that they were part of the non-Kalenjins in the county who are against Mandago's reelection bid. "We are not subordinate to any community in this county. We think independently and make decisions independently and as a community we've consulted widely and agreed that support Mandago in the upcoming general elections," Nyarombe said.
The Abagusii community leaders drawn from six sub-counties further challenged aspirants eyeing various elective positions to conduct their campaigns peacefully.
Despite clinching the Jubilee party ticket, Mandago still has an uphill task to retain his seat after main rival billionaire business mogul Zedekiah Bundotich popularly referred to as Buzeki declared that he would vie as an independent candidate.
Buzeki enjoys support from majority of the non-Kalenjins living in the county.
