[Photo|William Kingi]Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi attended a presentation by the Estonia smart city solutions at the department of transport and infrastructure offices on Wednesday. A month ago they commissioned the smart city consultants to a mapping exercise of Mombasa city in an effort to get digital solutions to the challenges in our transport department with specific focuses on traffic jam, enforcement of traffic laws and collection of revenue. "The consultants have already drawn a clear model that would clear our roads of congestion," he said. The mapping carried out by the Estonia Smart city solutions will help the County government in keeping a clear record of all motorists."This database shall help us in tracking law offenders and also harness collection of parking charges."Kingi indicated the partnership with the Estonia Smart City solutions would go along way in digitalizing many aspects of county government operations by creating an internationally valued innovation environment, where city authorities and citizens can co-create smart solutions based on contemporary technologies to make smart city services more effective.
