Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi’s presidential bid has received a major boost after elders from Trans Nzoia County accepted to rally the electorate behind him during the August polls.
Speaking to the elders at former Cabinet Minister Kipruto Arap Kirwa’s home on Thursday during his tour of the region the elders affirmed that Mudavadi is the right man to correct the mistakes made by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto since the duo took over power.
"We jointly endorse Hon Musalia Mudavadi and Hon Kipruto arap Kirwa as our political leaders and vow to lend all the support they require to achieve political goals at the national level," read part of the declaration, as quoted by the Standard.
On his part, Mudavadi called on the residents to remain united in order to make his presidential dream a reality when that time comes.
"The unity of elders under the Cherangany Declaration is not unique but a reminder that the Constitution recognises Kenya is made of communities and therefore the emphasis on unity in diversity," said Mudavadi.
The former Deputy President and other leaders from the opposition have been faulting Jubilee for failing to keep their pre-election pledges.
