Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has received a major boost after two Jubilee leaders called for his re-election in 2017.

Senate majority chief whip Beatrice Elachi supported Mvurya’s re-election bid, arguing that he has steered development in various parts of the county and deserves another term in office.

The nominated senator said there was need for Mvurya and the Jubillee Party to have a proper campaign team, in a bid to woo the electorate in the region.

Speaking during the Kwale Women in Leadership Network seminar in Diani on Wednesday, Elachi lashed out at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying it does not have any agenda for the people of Coast and other areas including the Western region, where the party enjoys massive support.

“The ODM wave is dwindling because their politics is full of insults and rhetoric,” she said.

Her remarks were reiterated by National Assembly deputy majority leader Naomi Shaban who called on residents to vote for leaders based on their track record.
