All music artistes in Nakuru county will record their songs for free once the facelift exercise at the Nakuru players theatre is complete, governor Kinuthia Mbugua has promised.
Speaking Wednesday when he led the county in signing a memorandum of understanding with the trustees of the theatre, Mbugua said the only way to help improve the state of arts in the county was to ensure artistes are not charged fees to record their pieces noting that some struggling artistes made their living through art and to charge them extra fees would only undermine them.
Mbugua also noted that art plays an intergral part in promoting culture saying no job is as paying as an artistic expression.
The county signed a Sh 15 Million deal with the trustees of the theatre in a bid to give the 68-year facility a facelift.
