The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has given the Opposition coalition NASA's secession Bill a go ahead.
The Bill was drafted by Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma who handed it over to IEBC for scrutiny.
IEBC has since given Kaluma the nod to either present the Bill before Parliament or seeking one million signatures in support of the move.
In the Bill, Kaluma wants the country split into two; birthing the People's Republic of Kenya and the Central Republic of Kenya.
“The objective of the Bill is to amend the Constitution to split to allow for the creation of a new state to give effect to the aspirations of the people of Kenya,” Kaluma says.
He wants 40 out of the 47 counties to form the People's Republic of Kenya, arguing that they have been discriminated against for a very long time by past regimes.
