A new political outfit in Ukambani set to be unveiled this week has vowed to back Opposition alliance NASA ahead of the August polls.
New Democrats Party leader businessman David Masika said the party had resolved to back NASA, saying it was the only outfit that represents the aspirations and dreams of most Kenyans.
“Definitely we would go the NASA way....I must say whatever it is that we are doing this as the blessing for the leader of Wiper,” Masika said during a press briefing on Sunday.
Masika looks to unseat Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
He has earlier expressed interest in vying on a Wiper Party ticket, but made an about - turn after Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka signed a political pact with Kivutha's Muungano Party.
“My main reason [for decamping] is the kind of contract between the leader of Wiper and Prof Kibwana, part of which guaranteed prof Kibwana direct nominations. So in a situation like that where does that live me?” Masika posed.
The ex-managing trustee of the National Social Security Fund exuded confidence that he would beat Kibwana during the upcoming polls.
