Kisumu governor candidate Anyang Nyongo has received a major boost after Musalia Mudavadi's ANC party decided to throw its weight behind him.

Kisumu's ANC governor candidate Peter Omollo quit the race to support the ODM candidate who faces a strong opposition from incumbent Jack Ranguma.

Making the announcement on Tuesday at a Kisumu rally attended by NASA leaders Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), Omollo asked supporters to vote Nyong’o and argued that the senator is best suited for job.

“We all have the capacity to be governors, but we can only have one governor at a time,” Omollo said.

However, his running mate Peris Ondiek has faulted the decision and said she was not consulted.

“This is a total let down to our supporters. It is unfair and disrespectful to our supporters and women seeking leadership,” she said.
