Mr Ongwae is facing a fierce challenge from a group of politicians led by Kisii Senator Chris Obure who has since announced his intention to contest.

And Bogonko in a meeting with business community members in Kisii town on Thursday slammed Ongwae critics as ‘enemies’ of development and challenged county residents to rally behind the embattled Governor.

“Sometimes politics can be cruel but let’s agree that devolution is completely a new concept which we are trying to actualise. I have never heard of Ongwae being mentioned in corruption scandals and to be honest, he has initiated a lot of development including infrastructure and agribusiness,” he said.

”His critics are enemies of development who get agitated when someone is busy doing the right thing. I stand with him and I urge you to give him a second chance if you want real progress,” he said.

The renowned don also slammed the Omogusii unitary talks dismissing it as an ‘architect’ to fight Ongwae.

“There is nothing like Omogusii unity because the agenda of these people is to unseat the governor. It’s good sometimes to play sober and mature politics,” he said.
