Kisii Governor James Ongwae has a reason to smile after outspoken Former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara threw his support behind his 2017 reelection.
Mr Omingo Magara, a former powerful ODM National Treasurer and a confidant of Raila Odinga is expected to go for Kisii County Senatorial seat after narrowly losing to incumbent Chris Obure in 2013.
Speaking on Sunday at Magenche during the launching of a new political caucus dubbed ‘Obuya Bwomogusii’ that is meant to counter Obure’s faction that was unveiled months ago dubbed ‘Obome Bwomogusii’, Omongi, Magara slammed Ongwae’s critics as ‘myopic and enemies of development’
“To be honest, Ongwae has done a lot since 2013 in all sectors, among them roads, agriculture, and water and youths department. His results are evident and it’s wrong for people to label him a non-performer,” he said.
“I encourage the Kisii people to support his reelection because he deserves it. Those opposing him are myopic and enemies of development. We should do away with them as electorates,” he added.
The meeting was attended by other high profile leaders among them Ambassador Sam Ongeri and could be the beginning of a major political pronouncement from the county according to political analyst Nyachieo Bogonko in an interview with the reporter.
