Nairobi senatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja
Nairobi senatorial and gubernatorial aspirants Johnson Sakaja and Mike Sonko respectively have received a boost in their campaigns after the Luhya community endorsed them ahead of the August 8 polls.
A group of about 1000 people from the community's 18 sub-tribes added their weight behind the duo on Saturday in a meeting organised by Team Sonko and conducted at the All African Churches Conference Hall in Nairobi.
With his deputy Polycarp Igathe, Sonko seeks to unseat incumbent governor Evans Kidero of NASA in the coming polls.
Sakaja, on the other hand, is Jubilee's replacement of Senator Sonko in the Senate.
The endorsement will be a major boost for the Jubilee team after a recent opinion poll showed that Sonko and Kidero were tied at a 45 per cent ground support.
