According to the Star, the officials led by Elgeyo Marakwet branch Vice Chairman Paul Kibet recognised Salat as the party's spokesperson, contrary to Senators John Lonyangapuo and Zipporah Kittony's opinion that Salat attended the meeting at a personal level and did not represent the party.

“Salat is spokesman of the party and he did not attend the meeting without consultation as claimed. We told him to do so as grassroots officials of the party," Kibet said in a press on Thursday in Uasin Gishu County.

“When we go for the NDC of the party we will endorse the decision taken by Salat at Bomas of Kenya," he added.
