A fund raiser organized to support Kisumu All Stars Football Club raised Sh3.5 million.

The drive was held at the Acacia Premier hotel on Friday evening, led by Kisumu County governor Professor Peter Anyang Nyong’o.

The governor gave out Sh200, 000 towards the drive. Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa donated Sh20, 000.

Silverstone airline gave out a cheque of one million shillings, while the Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) donated Sh950,000.

The fund raiser was organized to financially assist Kisumu All Stars players and members of the technical bench.

The team which was formed towards the end of last year has been experiencing financial difficulties.

Kisumu All Stars is among the 19 teams taking part in the National Super League (NSL) this season. 

The Nickanor led side replaced Palos FC in NSL after the latter closed shop towards the end of last year, due to lack of funds.

The team nicknamed The Eagles is currently 4th on the NSL log with 25 points, nine points behind leaders Western Stima.

All Stars has featured in 14 matches, won 7, drew 4 and lost 3 matches. The team next plays Kangemi All Stars in Nairobi, on Sunday.
