Tana River County Governor Hussein Dado's re-election bid has been handed a major boost following endorsements from youths and elders from the Wardei Community.
The two groups had earlier endorsed Tana River County Assembly Speaker Nuh Abdi Nasir who is gunning for governorship ahead of the August polls.
In a resolution made on Monday, the groups noted that Governor Dado was the most qualified candidate among those scouted by the community.
“We cannot gamble when we are already part of the current system. We have a few individuals who think politics is a gamble. We have clearly studied the situation before agreeing to endorse Mr Dado,” nominated MCA Hassan Omar Kurtumo observed.
Kurtumo further noted that Dado has run an all inclusive government through his four-year tenure.
“We have a lot of faith in Mr Dado’s administration because despite this being a coalition government of Orma and Wardei, he has ensured Pokomo, Malakote and Munyoyaya are not left out," he said.
"Tana River people are one under his stewardship and we felt he should continue for another term,” he added.
Dado is set to seek re-election on a Jubilee Party ticket, following his defection from Wiper Party.
