Elders in Rabai, Kilifi County have said they will support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in the repeat presidential polls slated for October 26.Addressing journalists in Rabai Town, the elders argued that Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto have initiated several projects in the Coast region, and urged residents to give the Jubilee administration a second term to enable them complete the projects.Led by Michael Tinga, the elders said the Jubilee government has delivered several projects for Coast residents since taking over power in 2013.He urged Coast residents to abandon the opposition in a bid to enjoy the fruits of development.“Members of the Rabai community mean what they say and will stand with Jubilee because of the benefits they have been enjoying from the government,” said Tinga.“We will traverse the whole of Kilifi County to ensure the president gets adequate votes in the countdown to the October polls,” he added.Tinga’s sentiments were reiterated by Rabai council of elders chairman Abdalla Shalako who said if re-elected, President Kenyatta would transform the county.“We will be going round mobilizing support for the President to ensure he reclaims his victory in the August 8general election that was overturned by the Supreme Court,” said Shalako.On his part, Maj (rtd) Stephen Yugo said the Coast region benefited immensely under the Jubilee government and dismissed opposition claims that the region has been side lined.He said the Coast region cannot remain in the opposition forever, and urged voters to support the President to ensure he beats NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga by a huge margin.
