President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legal team has received a major backing after the unlikely recruitment of renowned legal scholar Patrick Lumumba joined IEBC legal team.

Both Jubilee and IEBC are the respondents of an election petition filed by opposition leader Raila Odinga, who wants elections to be nullified.

The electoral body declared Uhuru a winner of August 8 elections after garnering a whopping 54 percent to Odinga’s 44 percent.

And with pretrial conference expected on Saturday, both legal teams have prepared huge volumes of evidences ahead of full hearing this week.

With Jubilee having secured legal services of Ahmednassir Abdullahi and Fred Ngatia, they will be backed by Lumumba of IEBC.

On the other hand, opposition legal team will be lead by Senior Counsel James Orengo, who has warned of a bruising court battle this week.

The Supreme Court is expected to deliver a ruling on September 1st in accordance to the constitution of 2010.
