President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have received a major boost after Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and his predecessor Peter Munya agreed to bury the hatchet.
The two leaders, who have been at loggerheads for some time, have agreed to rally the electorate behind Uhuru ahead of the fresh election.
Munya had joined the National Super Alliance (NASA) before he made a U- turn. The new development is likely to shift the political situation of the nation as Uhuru locks horns with Former Prime Minister, Raila Amolo Odinga, who is taking a fourth stab at the Presidency.
Munya and Kiraitu met at State House where they hatched a plan to ensure that they deliver the region’s vote to Jubilee when that time comes.
The head of state has expressed gratitude towards the duo for accepting to work together to ensure he beats Raila, ODM Leader. Both Uhuru and Raila are banking on the Meru vote to carry the day.
The union of the two leaders comes at a time when the opposition has taken to the streets in protest against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The leaders want the commission to dismiss CEO Ezra Chiloba and others suspected of manipulating polls results.
