ODM Party officials in Bungoma have resolved to back Senator Moses Wetangula's reelection bid during the forthcoming general elections.
The decision precedes NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga's previous endorsement of the Senate Minority Leader.
Speaking in Bungoma earlier in the week, ODM party branch organising secretary Eric Wambasi announced that the party would rally support for Wetang'ula as he seeks a second term as Senator.
The officials reached the decision despite the party fielding Bonny Nyongesa, who was expected to face off with Wetang'ula.
"We agree with Raila on his call that Nyongesa steps down for Wetang'ula who shelved his presidential ambitions," Wambasi announced.
Also interested in the seat is former journalist David Makali, who is vying on an ANC Party ticket.
Wetang'ula will be defending his seat on his Ford Kenya party ticket.
