A team of MPs known as 'Uhuruto Express team' from Jubilee strongholds who failed to clinch seats in party primaries have formed a team to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.

The legislators on Monday kicked off a campaign in Nyandarua county to urge voters in the party’s strongholds to come out in large numbers and back Kenyatta.

The MPs include, Nelson Gaichuhie, Samuel Gichigi, Stephen Mburu, Mary Wambui, Njogu Barua, Joseph Kiuna, Jamleck Kamau, John Kihagi, Mathenge Nderitu  and Nakuru Women Rep Mary Mbugua.

Jamleck said the members vied in the Jubilee primaries and lost but had put behind the bitter memories of those nominations and decided to campaign for the President.

“We have decided to put our personal interests aside and look at the bigger picture which is the presidency. That is why we have teamed up to support the President in these campaigns,” he said.

They said NASA presidential candidate, Raila Odinga will be sent home in the August elections.

The MPs urged supporters to turn out in large numbers and vote for President Uhuru.
