Quality of Education at the Moi University has received a major boost after they received laboratory equipment valued at over Sh121 million from Seeding Labs.Seeding Labs is a consortium of American Institutions based in Boston, Massachusetts.According to Dr. Melissa Wu, Seeding Labs' global partnership director, the equipment will be used in the Chemistry, Biochemistry and Medical Biochemistry departments."We have been able to work with many manufacturers to source their surplus equipment and about 60 percent of the items that we are sending are new. Majority of the equipment are 120V, so plans for step-down transformers or access to 120V lines in the labs will need to be made," said Dr. Wu at the Moi University's main campus in Kesses, Uasin Gishu county on Monday."Among the equipment we have donated include Fourier Transform-Infra Red spectophometer (FT-IR), High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), Rotavapour, Mass Spectrometer, X-Ray, Electrophoresis and UV-Visible Spectrophotometer," he added.Moi University's acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban Ayiro welcomed the initiative and promised that the institution will take good care of the equipment."As an institution we are very happy since this equipment's will help our students during their practicals, we are very grateful," said Prof. Ayiro.
