Nakuru leaders are calling on the government to boost security in the churches and hotels in the area.
The leaders cited that the town is increasingly becoming more popular hence need to beef up security.
Lakeview Member of County Assembly Wanyoike Wanango said that the county is expecting more visitors this holiday thus need for deployment of more police officers.
“We need to ensure that tourists travelling in the town for holidays are safe and will not fall victim to any kind of crime,” said Wanango.
Wanango called on the police to carry out more patrols especially in tourist zones. Nominated MCA Esther Magere said that hotel owners need to scrutinize the clients’ details before accommodating them.
“The government should deploy security agencies in hotels to boost security. This will ensure that criminals do not hide in the facilities,” adds Magere.
Biashara MCA Eunice Mureithi said that there is need for the government to sensitise people on the need to embrace Nyumba Kumi Initiative.
“Police officers need to work closely with residents. At the same time the government need to carry out civic education on the need to embrace Nyumba Kumi,” added Mureithi.
